Annual Luncheon:

July saw around 30 of us enjoy a sumptuous lunch at City Tatts Club. Highlights were the attendance of several Marist brothers and old boy Priest, Fr John Andersen who is based in Peru. Fr John last joined us when he was in Aus for his father’s 90th birthday. This time it was his dad’s 95th! There seems no reason to cease this get together whilst so many are interested and it will continue into 2011 and beyond.

Centenary of MBHSD:

Prior to the lunch, we held a meeting of those interested in helping plan the centenary event which will be held on the 100th anniversary of the opening of the High School on 11 July 1911. Fortuitously, we are able to hold it on the same weekday 100 years on – Monday 11 Jul 2011. Many ideas were discussed and we also considered some input via mail from interested old boys.

The day will commence at 10am with a Mass at The Sacred Heart, Darlinghurst, followed by a visit to the school site and thence transfer to a luncheon location by bus. Details are to be worked through but since knowing numbers is crucial to the planning (especially the need for buses and determining an appropriate luncheon venue) we are asking everyone to pay a deposit to indicate their intention to attend. The attached form is marked for that purpose. Please consider your availability and send in the form.

Annual Mass and Dinner:

The Mass will be at 5.30pm at St Pats, Church Hill followed by dinner at the Rugby Club. Guests will include Fr Guy Hartcher (LC ’62) and Br Darren Burge, Principal of The Berne School at Lewisham. We will again provide a substantial donation to The Berne School on your behalf.

The attached form is also for the purpose of letting us know you are able to make the dinner. Cost includes all food and drinks.

We would like a special effort to get some class reunions going this year as a means of getting some momentum going for the Centenary. Come on those of you with a little “get up and go” left in you – get moving and push your mates to attend.
