The Extra Last Blue & Blue – May 2011

Welcome to a special edition of your B & B.

Centenary of MBHSD:                                 Date: Monday 11 July 11.

Mass Venue: St Patrick’s’, Church Hill.        Time: 1030

Special General Meeting: In accordance with the OBU Constitution, notice is hereby given that a special general meeting of the OBU will be convened at 1130 at the Rugby Club, Rugby Pl, Sydney on 11 July 2011.

Agenda:          1. To consider a proposal to merge the MBHSD OBU with the Marist College Pearce OBA. Previous B&Bs have mentioned this proposal. A brief summary of reasons will be tendered by the President at the meeting. Just a reminder that it is 43 years since the school closed and there is no new blood coming in by way of graduates. Support for the annual lunch and dinner is waning and many staunch members are no longer able to attend these functions due to poor health. The youngest   OBU members are now 60; the oldest are approaching their own             centenary.

                        2. To approve the establishment of a perpetual part Bursary in the name of MBHSD at Marist College Pearce and the donation of the remaining OBU funds for this purpose.

##########       3. Failing the approval of the above to accept the resignations of current OBU executives as advised on the day.

Lunch Venue: The Rugby Club, Rugby Pl, Sydney (between George and Pitt Sts, near Circular Quay).

Cost: $75 – includes 3 course lunch and all beverages. No charge for Priests and Brothers attending. Memories and friendship FREE!

RSVP 17 June. We are approaching 100 old boys attending – spread the word!

Attendance forms have previously been circulated. Any queries may be directed to Warren Thomas on 0411442478 or to other executives opposite.

Late breaking news. We have now arranged access to the school site (280 Liverpool St) between 9am and 10am. Old Boys will be able to walk through the grounds, have a look at the interior of the building (eg stair case) and at the inside of one of the units (converted from a class room). Those interested should contact the visit co-ordinator, Michael Howard 02 4367 3080 or 0400 728 790 or mjphoward@bigpond.com. Parking could be difficult; best to use buses from Central (378) or Town Hall (389; the 389 runs along Liverpool St).
